My Story


I’m a bit of a geek when it comes to negotiation.  I live it, breathe it, and even dream about it.

I have over 12 years of negotiation speaking, consulting and training experience.  Speaking at events and conferences happened organically at first.  It started with my  clients at sales conferences, regional meetings, kickoff events, etc. and then word of mouth led to trade shows and larger events.  For the past 12 years I’ve performed at 7 to 12 events a year and the rest of my time is spent providing negotiation training, coaching, and consulting to my corporate clients.

I’ve graced the biggest and smallest of stages and even some places I’m not so sure I’d classify as a “stage”. Based on my experience I have 2 goals when speaking at any event.

GOAL 1:  Deliver an awesome on-stage experience I call the EDGE advantage.  The EDGE advantage encompasses my approach to creating an awesome experience for the attendees.  Every presentation is built with the following elements

  • EDUCATIONAL – I will introduce information they haven’t seen before no matter their level of experience.
  • ENGAGING – All presentations include exercises and case studies to maximize attendee involvement.
  • ENTERTAINING -I combine passion, humor, real life examples, and multiple video clips to ensure every entertainment element is elevated.

GOAL 2:  Deliver a turnkey low maintenance off-stage experience for you.  Putting together an event is stressful enough.  I’m basically plug and play with the flexibility of a yogi (except I can’t do the splits).

Before focusing exclusively on negotiation, I worked for a several record labels negotiating deals with artists managers, strategic accounts, and 3rd party partners.  I definitely have some stories to tell you and your audience!

I met my wife through a mutual friend in 1999.  We were married in 2003, and had our first child in 2005, and our 4th in 2010.  I am incredibly blessed.

I’m a husband and father of 4.  We live in beautiful Hermosa Beach California.  I’m an avid surfer, soccer coach, little league coach, and basketball coach.

My Previous Experience in the Music Industry

After graduating from Wharton School University of Pennsylvania I was immediately hired by RCA Records as part of their management training program.

I spent 13 years in the entertainment industry, working for various record labels negotiating deals with high profile artists, strategic accounts, and 3rd party partners.  In 4 short years, I navigated the shark infested waters of ‘the biz’ to become the youngest executive at Capitol Records.

In 2003 I graduated from the Anderson School at UCLA with a Masters in Business Administration.

In 2005 I left the entertainment world to start a negotiation consulting firm with my partners from the UK.  I was responsible for building the business in the US.  The US business took off and I cashed out in 2009.  I sold my interest in the firm to start my solo project The Edge Negotiation Group.
